NORWEGIANFISHINGGUIDE

Packraft fishing explained

What is a packraft?

A small, light inflatable boat for one person. Stable, easy to paddle and built for rivers, it is the best way to fish water you can never reach from the bank.

Light and stable

A packraft is light enough to carry and packs down small. You sit low on the water, which makes it steady and comfortable for hours.

The whole river

From the raft you can cast to both banks and to water no one fishes from land. In one drift you cover more river than in a week of bank fishing.

Quiet on the water

No engine, no noise. You drift with the current and reach the fish without scaring them.

First time?

Never paddled before? No problem

The Rena is calm and gentle, with only two short stretches of light rapids on the whole drift. Before we launch, you get a full briefing on how to paddle, steer and fish from the raft.

You wear a life jacket at all times, and your guide is always close by. All you need is good English and the ability to swim.
